About this Place

Bhangarh Fort is widely considered the most haunted place in India, so much so that the Archaeological Survey of India forbids entry between sunset and sunrise. Legend tells of a dark magician named Singhia who fell in love with Princess Ratnavati and tried to enchant her with a love potion. The princess saw through his trick and threw the potion against a boulder, which then crushed the magician. With his dying breath, he cursed the fort and all who lived within it to a state of perpetual haunting and death without rebirth. Within a year, the city was sacked and its inhabitants slaughtered. Locals believe that the spirits of the dead still roam the roofless ruins and that any person who stays overnight will never return. Oddly, every house built within the fort's vicinity reportedly suffers from roof collapses, as if the curse refuses to allow anyone to live comfortably within the shadow of the doomed citadel. The preservation of these ruins, untouched by modern development due to ancestral fear, keeps the legend of the cursed magician very much alive today.
